Prepaid card manager FiCentive Inc. today announced the signing of a card-management agreement with SwipePay Mobile Inc., a mobile-payments company. Under the terms of the agreement FiCentive has created and will manage the SwipePay prepaid MasterCard, Michael Long, CEO of San Antonio-based Payment Data Systems Inc., FiCentive's parent, tells CardLine. Consumers can reload the card at any Green Dot Corp. location, through direct deposit or ACH, and get money through peer-to-peer transfers, and use the card to pay for mobile-phone service and to initiate payments anywhere MasterCard is accepted, Chris Wuhrer, SwipePay CEO, says. Based in Alexandria, Va., SwipePay has offered its customers a service where they can add minutes to their mobile phones just by using the handset, and the agreement with FiCentive, gives them the ability to offer customers an actual card, Wuhrer says. "It simplifies transactions for folks that are underbanked or not banked at all," Long says of the card. MetaBank issues the cards, and FiCentive does the processing, Long says. FiCentive will have the cards ready for SwipePay to offer its customers at the beginning of next month, Long says.
