Fime Gains EMVCo Approval for Testing Mobile Payment Apps

EMV certification provider Fime has received EMVCo approval to support the use of its global test tool for the development of payment applications that use a handset's secure element.

Paris-based Fime will help chip manufacturers align properly with EMVCo's application activation user interface for the proximity payment system environment. EMVCo is the card-brand sponsored EMV standards body.

The proximity payment environment is a mechanism that identifies and presents the compatible contactless payment applications when a point of sale terminal is within range of the secure element. The activation user interface enables end users to pre-define the payment application to be used to initiate a transaction.

“The combination of AAUI and PPSE brings real value to consumers by automatically launching the pre-selected payment application when a consumer is making a mobile payment," Oleg Kosine, head of marketing, payment vendors for Fime, stated in a May 31 press release. "This makes the process quick and convenient.”

Fime has been expanding the use of its global testing platform into new mobile markets, including China late last year.
