EMV certification provider Fime has received EMVCo approval to support the use of its global test tool for the development of payment applications that use a handset's secure element.
Paris-based Fime will help chip manufacturers align properly with EMVCo's application activation user interface for the proximity payment system environment. EMVCo is the card-brand sponsored EMV standards body.
The proximity payment environment is a mechanism that identifies and presents the compatible contactless payment applications when a point of sale terminal is within range of the secure element. The activation user interface enables end users to pre-define the payment application to be used to initiate a transaction.
“The combination of AAUI and PPSE brings real value to consumers by automatically launching the pre-selected payment application when a consumer is making a mobile payment," Oleg Kosine, head of marketing, payment vendors for Fime, stated in a May 31 press release.
