Fime Lab in North America Qualifies for Visa's NFC Testing

A Montreal-based laboratory for Fime has earned Visa's accreditation to perform tests for its contactless EMV payment specifications.

The qualification helps Fima support handset manufacturers by confirming compliance of Near Field Communication-enabled mobile devices to U.S. requirements, Fime said in a July 28 press release.

The Visa qualification was an important step in offering a "one-stop-shop" to NFC handset manufacturers in the U.S., Xavier Giandominici, director at FIME America, stated in the release.

Fime operates as a consultant and advanced end-to-end testing services provider within the payment, mobile telecom, e-ID and transit sectors.

In April, Fime established its consultant package for EMV migration to help U.S. companies prepare for the shift to chip-based cards in 2015.
