First Data Corp. says it has signed a seven-year card processing deal with Vanquis Bank Ltd., a credit card issuer based in the United Kingdom. The deal calls for First Data to migrate the bank's card portfolio to the United States-based processor's FirstVision processing platform over the next 18 months. First Data has worked with Vanquis since the bank began issuing cards in 2003, the U.S. firm says. Vanquis issues some 400,000 cards. Vanquis is part of Provident Financial PLC, another British firm. First Data also says it has signed an eight-year extension of its issuing and processing agreement with UK-based The Co-operative Financial Services. First Data will process for some 1.7 million debit cards and 1 million credit cards, and move the card portfolio to FirstVision.
