Fiserv Inc. plans to begin delivering electronic statements through bank and credit union websites for Discover Financial Services card accounts, the processor announced Feb. 22.
Discover customers that pay their bills through bank websites would see an icon to alert them of the change if their bank uses Fiserv for online bill pay. The e-bills have the same information as a paper statement.
Consumers would be able to schedule payments for a later date and receive e-mail reminders as that date approaches, Fiserv said. Brookfield, Wis.-based vendor has 3,000 banks and credit unions using its online bill-payment services.
“Fiserv research shows that one-third of online bill-pay users now receive at least one e-bill and that consumer interest has increased over the past two years,” Jardon Bouska, Fiserv division president of biller solutions, said in a press release.
