Fit Pay Designs Payment Watch Strap for Pebble Wearables

Fit Pay in San Francisco has launched a campaign on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter to raise funds for the final production of a payment-enabled wristband developed for Pebble Time smartwatches.

The smartstrap, called Pagaré, allows Pebble Time, Pebble Time Steel and Pebble Time Round users to make payments at retail locations worldwide. Pagaré features Fit Pay’s Trusted Payment Manager platform to enable contactless payments on a range of wearable devices.

The strap uses Near Field Communication technology and card network tokenization to interact with point of sale terminals. Pagaré was designed to look very similar to a Pebble watch strap, with Fit Pay using the same suppliers as Pebble to employ the same materials, colors and finishes as the line of smartwatches.

Pebble previously raised more than $20 million from roughly 80,000 backers in a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Fit Pay aims to raise $120,000 through its Kickstarter campaign, with the goal to ship Pagaré in mid-2016.
