Five Chinese Banks Order 6,000 ATMs From NCR

Dayton, Ohio-based NCR Corp., the world's largest ATM manufacturer based on
2007 shipments, Monday announced that it secured orders for 6,000 ATMs from
China's five-largest commercial banks.

"This order demonstrates how NCR continues to execute its business strategy
by expanding our core financial-services business in promising geographic regions
like China," Patrick Chou, president of NCR North Asia, said in a news release.

The five banks that ordered ATMs from NCR are Agricultural Bank of China, Bank
of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank and Industrial &
Commercial Bank of China. Industrial & Commercial Bank of China
and the Bank of Communications ordered the largest number of ATMs, NCR officials
said in a statement.

The five banks purchased cash dispensers and multifunctional and bulk
cash-recycling ATMs, Brian Bailey, NCR vice president of Financial Industry
Marketing, tells ATM&Debit News. The banks primarily bought NCR Personas
models and some SelfServ ATMs, according to NCR.

According to The Asian Banker, a Singapore-based research firm, NCR controlled
43% of ATM installations in 11 countries Asian Banker surveyed its report
"ATMs, Cash Dispensing and Retail Payments Report 2007." China is expected to become the largest ATM market in Asia by 2010 with 135,000 ATMs, Asian Banker forecast.
