Chuck Geiger, a former PayPal Inc. chief technology officer, has joined the board of Rainmaker Systems Inc., the provider of business e-commerce technology announced June 16.

Geiger, who is chief technology officer of Chegg, a textbook-rental company, also has served in a similar role at Ask.com and Wine.com. Geiger also was vice president of product development at eBay Inc., which owns PayPal.
“Chuck brings a strong technical background and significant e-commerce experience and expertise to our board, and he will be a valuable asset,” Michael Stilton, Rainmaker chief executive, said in a press release. Rainmaker is based in Campbell, Calif.
