Global Payments Certifies Japan's Payment Network for EMV

Japanese card payment network JCB has received certification from Global Payments to accept the Japanese credit card company's EMV-card product.

Global Payments is the first EMV acceptance certification that JCB has received in the U.S., Dan Skaling, executive president at JCB USA, said in a Monday news release. The certification should help JCB's efforts to build a base in the U.S., where the EMV migration has been slower than expected.

“JCB has been a leader in EMV card acceptance in markets around the world for the past 10 years,” Skaling said. “Being able to give our cardholders this same safety and security when making purchases in the United States is a top priority.”

Processors can combine JCB's J/Smart application identifier with other card-brand application identifiers.

JCB has also been expanding its international transaction capabilities in recent technology projects.
