Global Payments Integrates EMV Product with Carolina Software

OpenEdge, the integrated payments unit of Global Payments, has reached a partnership to provide its EMV product to Carolina Software.

Carolina Software will assimilate EdgeShield into its Wasteworks software suite for the municipal waste market before the U.S. card networks' planned EMV shift takes effect in October. After that deadline, any company that cannot handle EMV payments faces a shift in fraud liability.

EdgeShield, launched in January, is a collection of security components designed to protect credit card data at rest and in transit. EdgeShield handles EMV, person-to-person encryption, and tokenization.

"Everyone in the ecosystem understands that EMV represents a far superior security solution at the point of purchase," OpenEdge President Sid Singh said in a March 31 press release. "EdgeShield solves this problem, so developers can integrate EMV swiftly and merchants can accept payments seamlessly."
