Hong Kong Credit Card Receivables Up 6.2% In Q2

Credit card receivables in Hong Kong stood at HK$73.42 billion (US$9.4 billion or 6.4 billion euros) at the end of the second quarter of 2008, up 6.2% from HK$69.11 billion for the same period last year, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The number of credit card accounts in Hong Kong increased by 4.6%, to 11.84 million accounts at the end of the second quarter of 2008 from 11.32 million accounts at the same period last year. Charge-off amounts declined by 10.3%, to HK$506 million at the end of the second quarter of 2008 from HK$564 million for the same period last year. An authority spokesperson offered no immediate comment.
