Indian Bank To Deploy ATMs To Underserved Areas

IMGCAP(1)]

Rushikulya Gramya Bank will install its first ATMs in the Indian state of Orissa this year as part of a government-encouraged effort to provide basic banking services to consumers. The India-based bank plans to deploy 10 ATMs by September, a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. The deployment comes as the Reserve Bank of India is pushing the country's "regional rural banks," established to serve poor and remote regions, to provide basic services to customers in rural areas by 2012. The bank operates 79 branches in Orissa.
