India-based HDFC Bank says it will use software from United States-based ATM vendor NCR Corp. to enable customers to make faster funds withdrawals from cash machines. NCR's "Aptra eMarketing" software can reduce by 40% the time needed to withdraw funds from ATMs, the bank says in a statement. The bank has tested the software at its ATMs in the western Indian cities of Pune, Nashik and Ahmednagar. The bank expects to expand use of the software to all its ATMs over the next few months, the bank says in the statement. HDFC deploys some 3,100 ATMs in more than 500 Indian cities. Neither the bank nor NCR responded to requests for comment.
