India-based Union Bank has ordered 300 NCR Personas 77 Solo ATMs, an executive with the United States-based vendor tells CardLine Global. Among other features, the ATMs enable consumers to complete transactions should the power fail, a common experience in rural India, says Pradeep Sen, NCR managing director for India. Union Bank also plans to upgrade its 424 existing NCR ATMs with Windows XP operating systems, he adds. Union Bank previously has said it deploys about 3,000 ATMs (CardLine Global, 18 July).
