ayment and data processor Planet Payment Inc. has added an online multiple-currency payment function to its iPay e-commerce payment gateway. Through the service, card-not-present merchants based in the United States can display prices and enable online shoppers outside the U.S. to pay for purchases in any of several currencies, but merchants still receive funds from their merchant banks in U.S. dollars, Grace de Fries, Planet Payment director of sales support, tells CardLine. Planet Payment previously offered the multicurrency service to U.S. e-commerce merchants only through third-party payment gateways. "The advantage is that Planet Payment can more closely control the entire process flow," de Fries says. New York-based Planet Payment also has offices in China, Bermuda, the United Kingdom and Singapore. The company purchased iPay from Pay By Touch Payments Solutions Inc. in April for $1 million.
