North American Bancard, a Troy, Mich.-based independent sales organization, today announced it is creating a division for software developers, value-added resellers of point-of-sale systems and users of their software to capture sales. Called the Alliance Division, the business unit will work with companies that supply integrated POS systems for merchants to include North American Bancard's payment services. Unlike standalone POS terminals, integrated systems include business-management functions, such as inventory tracking and employee scheduling. David L. Terpoorten will lead the new division. North American Bancard did not disclose how much of its annual revenue comes from customers that use integrated POS systems. Earlier this year, the ISO announced it was expanding and could hire nearly 2,000 workers by 2012 (CardLine, 3/20). A North American Bancard spokesperson says the company is operating out of a building it bought as part of that expansion.
