Independent sales organizations and payment processors will be the only sales outlets for SimplyPCI.com, a Web site information-technology company Mindteck launched this week to help smaller merchants become compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. The Web site is intended for smaller, Level 3 and Level 4 merchants, says Chris Bucolo, director of the IT security practice at Enola, Pa.-based Mindteck. Level 3 merchants process between 20,000 and 1 million annual e-commerce transactions, while Level 4 merchants process only up to 20,000 e-commerce transactions or less than 1 million other types of transactions per year. Such merchants probably do not have IT resources either in-house or readily available, Bucolo tells CardLine sister publication ISO&Agent Weekly. After an ISO or processor signs up a merchant for the service, the merchant visits the SimplyPCI.com Web site to complete the PCI questionnaire. Merchants can send an e-mail to Mindteck if they have any difficulties understanding the questionnaire and a representative will call them back, Bucolo says. He likens SimplyPCI to a full-service online brokerage service, in which the customer can choose what level of support they need. Fees for the service vary because the reseller may mark up the cost. Other resellers may absorb the cost or pass the fee along to the merchant.
