Japanese video-game developer Koei Co. Ltd. is working with Visa Inc. to launch cobranded credit cards in the country. The deal involves four cards, all of which are scheduled to be introduced by August, a Koei spokesperson tells CardLine Global. Each card's design reflects a specific game. "These cards are themed with our own popular game titles, and cardholders … get freebies and discounts … when shopping for Koei game titles," the spokesperson says. Visa did not return calls for comment. Earlier this year, Capcom Entertainment Inc., another Japan-based video-game developer, launched the Capcom Unity Visa prepaid card, which Capcom claims to be the first prepaid rewards card designed specifically for gamers (CardLine Global, 18 Feb.). Also, Sony Corp., the Japan-based company that makes the PlayStation video game counsel, has launched a PlayStation Visa credit card.
