Judo Gives Givvit a Mobile-Centric Payment Platform

London-based Givvit has chosen Judo Payments to enable payments within its mobile gifting app.

Givvit sells gift vouchers for specific items at big-name merchants in the U.K., including Caffe Nero, Marks & Spencer and Pizza Express. Recipients get a digital voucher that can be redeemed in-store.

With judoNative, payment screens are built directly into the app so customers aren’t redirected to a third-party payment website. According to judo’s website, merchant customers have seen sales increase by six times by using its platform.

“We’re witnessing a growing trend of new apps driving efficiency and making new things possible with a few taps of our mobiles,” said Dennis Jones, CEO at judo. “By offering an intuitive digital gifting experience, from idea to payment, Givvit is fantastically positioned to change the voucher market by making it easier than ever to share thoughtful gifts.”

Along with judo, Givvit accepts payments through PayPal as well. Initiating a payment via PayPal takes customers to a PayPal screen where it asks them to login and pay with their stored payment card.

Judo also offers a fraud mitigation platform called judoShield, which uses mobile-specific fraud signals instead of 3D Secure, a security protocol for online card payments.

“We chose judo as our secure mobile payments partner due to our need for a clean and seamless customer experience that supports the spontaneous tangible treating that we offer,” said Cullen, co-founder at Givvit. “We can now focus on driving our business with the knowledge that the flexible payment solutions judo offer can scale with our social treating mission.”

Judo is also used by KFC restaurants and Harris + Hoole coffee shops.
