MasterCard Names Andrea Scerch President of DataCash Unit

Andrea Scerch is the new president of DataCash, an e-commerce payments company MasterCard acquired in 2010. Scerch replaces Ajay Bhalla, who is taking on a larger role at MasterCard.

Scerch had been division president for Central Europe at MasterCard. At DataCash, Scerch will manage MasterCard's global processing solutions organizations, including DataCash Group Companies, MasterCard Internet Services and DataCash's fraud and risk management tools.

DataCash enables MasterCard to provide digital services to acquirers and enter new e-commerce markets via partnerships. For example, DataCash recently partnered with Redecard to provide residents in Brazil with options for making payments with cross-border e-commerce retailers, and partnered with Swiff to add mobile point of sale technology to DataCash's existing processing and risk management services.

"[Scerch] is an excellent fit to help take DataCash to the next level of success as it becomes an integral part of MasterCard's Global Processing Group," says Cathy McCaul, president of global processing at MasterCard, in a Nov. 21 press release.
