Mauritius Commercial Bank has started to test its ATMs with technology from Level Four Software Ltd., a spokesperson for the United Kingdom-based firm tells CardLine Global. The software enables the bank to run the tests remotely from laptops instead of manually. The bank, which deploys 146 machines, agreed to buy the software in March. The deal marks the second such agreement in the Africa and Indian Ocean region for the UK firm, the spokesperson says. Level Four previously had one existing customer in the region, South Africa-based Standard Bank Group Ltd., the spokesperson says. The tests include ensuring that "bunch note acceptance" transactions work properly. Bunch note acceptance, which the bank plans to soon introduce on its ATMs, "is fully automated deposit [technology] that counts and checks a cash deposit and clears the funds in real time," the spokesperson adds.
