Since the Lathrup Village, Mich.-based credit union began using machines with envelope-free cash and check deposit in 2004, it has increased its membership nearly 70%, to 87,000 members. It deploys 18 of the German ATM maker’s machines today.

“Without the Wincor Nixdorf ATMs, Michigan First would have needed many more branches to handle the increased volume,” Michael Poulos, Michigan First’s president and chief executive, said in a press release.

Wincor Nixdorf intelligent deposit modules resemble technology also offered by Diebold Inc. and NCR Corp.
