In one of the new deals, valued at several million dollars, Monitise will design, build and manage new digital banking payments and shopping services with a British partner. The partnership includes provisions for revenue sharing from retail offers generated by Monitise's mobile commerce network. Monitise did not disclose the British or European clients when contacted by PaymentsSource, citing confidentiality agreements.

In mainland Europe, Monitise is also finalizing details on a contract to provide multi-language mobile point of sale services for a Nordic bank's small business and merchant customers.

In Asia, Monitise reports an increase in local interest in mobile payments technology following the launch of a Chinese mobile money service with mobile network operator PCCW-HKT, Bank of China and JETCO, an ATM network provider in Hong Kong.

"There is no doubt in our minds that 2014 and 2015 will see an intensifying battle as players position themselves to control and own the business infrastructure underpinning mobile money technology," says Alastair Lukies, Monitise's CEO, in a Dec. 31 press release.
