Eighty-two percent of Internet-using consumers in the Asia-Pacific region plan to buy goods online within the next six months, suggest survey data from Visa Inc. The findings are based on online surveys of 9,142 consumers conducted by Ipsos and completed in December. The surveyed consumers were between the ages of 18 and 49, used the Internet at least once a week, and were from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia and India. Sixty-one percent of respondents said they were "satisfied with the present level of online payment security," Visa says in a statement released Thursday. Still, 49% of respondents reported concerns about the misuse of payment card details and other personal information by online retailers, while 46% reported worries about hackers gaining access to retailer databases, Visa says.
