"The matter has been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties involved," said Danielle McNalley, a Motorola spokesperson, in an email to PaymentsSource on August 21. Xoom did not return a request for comment by deadline. The companies did not release other details of the out-of-court settlement.

Xoom had sued Motorola Mobility, a subsidiary of Google, seeking a restraining order or a preliminary injunction to stop Motorola from using the Xoom brand. Xoom 's website carries a copyright tag that dates to 2001. Motorola filed a number of trademark applications around the Xoom brand in 2010.

Xoom offers money transfer serves in dozens of countries, and recently launched a new mobile app to compete with Western Union and MoneyGram, the market's larger players.
