NCR Adds Mobile-Pay Options for Wait Staff

NCR is launching NCR Aloha Mobile, which allows restaurants to deploy tableside mobile systems for handling meal orders and payments.

Aloha Mobile is an extension of NCR's Aloha Table point of sale software. It includes most the software's features and uses a similar interface. Aloha Mobile is available on NCR's Orderman devices, and will also be offered on Apple iOS devices such as the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch by the end of the year.

NCR introduced its Orderman handheld point of sale system in the U.S. last year. NCR acquired Orderman as part of its purchase of Radiant Technology in 2011. 

NCR has other products for use in restaurants, such as NCR Mobile Pay, which is aimed at consumers. When dining, consumers use NCR Mobile Pay to order favorite meals and make payments.

Other companies have also developed mobile technology for restaurant payments. ATX Innovation's Tabbedout is designed to communicate with restaurants' point of sale terminals. Israel's MyCheck recently began testing its software with New York restaurants. Other restaurant-focused mobile payment products include Viableware's Rail device and Heartland Payment Systems' Mobuyle card reader.
