NCR Corp. yesterday opened its ATM manufacturing plant in Brazil to supply machines to banks in the Caribbean, Latin America and Brazil, South America's largest market for ATM deployments. The factory, located in Manaus, Amazonas State, will manufacture NCR's SelfServ line of advanced ATMs, which NCR introduced in January 2008. NCR announced in June it was investing 73 million Brazilian reals (U.S.$42.52 million) in a plant. At the time of the announcement, it was not clear whether NCR would construct a new plant or rehabilitate an existing building on 2.5 acres of land. Construction workers rehabilitated an existing building (CardLine, 7/27).
