Five of China's largest commercial banks have ordered 6,000 ATMs from United States-based NCR Corp., the world's largest ATM manufacturer based on 2007 shipments, NCR said Tuesday. The five banks are Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and the Bank of Communications ordered the largest number of ATMs from NCR, the company says in a statement. Retail Banking Research LLC, a consulting firm based in the United Kingdom, has forecast double-digit ATM growth in China from 2008 to 2013. Retail Banking Research says NCR shipped the largest number of ATMs worldwide in 2007, but neither NCR nor Retail Banking Research will disclose specific shipment numbers.
