Nextel Mexico, a leading mobile-phone company in Mexico, hopes to expand the deployment of self-service ATMs from NCR Corp. throughout the country, both companies announced Wednesday. The machines enable customers to pay their mobile-phone bills. Since March, Nextel has deployed the NCR SelfServ32 full-function ATM at Nextel customer-service centers in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexicali. Nextel wants to deploy the SelfServ32 at 100 locations throughout Mexico by year's end. NCR's SelfServ32 is a full-function, freestanding ATM designed for lobbies that accepts bill payments paid by check, cash or credit or debit card. About 40% of Nextel payments in Mexico are made with credit and debit cards, Juan Enrich, Nextel Mexico chief financial officer, says in a statement. United States-based NCR introduced its line of SelfServ ATMs in 2008.
