Noor Islamic Bank plans launch the United Arab Emirates’ first mobile Internet-banking service in Arabic, the Dubai-based bank announced on March 1.
When the free service launches in the coming months, consumers may use any type of mobile phone that can access the Internet, according to the statement from the bank. The service automatically would detect the nature of the handset and push the appropriate page to fit the screen size, the statement adds.
Among the services offered both in Arabic and English will be the ability to check account and credit card balances, pay off card balances, and transfer funds between Noor Islamic Bank accounts.
Launched in January 2008, Noor Islamic Bank operates 84 ATMs across the United Arab Emirates. Bank officials did not respond to a request for an interview by PaymentsSource’s deadline.
