NXT-ID Partners with Vacation Club Retailer on Smart Card

NXT-ID and vacation and entertainment club memberships retailer WorldVentures have formed a strategic alliance.

As part of the deal, WorldVentures has invested $2 million in NXT-ID. The funds will go toward the development of a proprietary new wireless smart card based on NXT-ID's Wocket smart wallet.

The smart card will be customized with technologies and wireless features, including the ability to seamlessly integrate with the app for WorldVentures's DreamTrips travel club. Through this integration, members will be able to wirelessly check in and earn loyalty points towards vacations.

"This represents a major step forward for NXT-ID and its technology with potential significant revenue from our WorldVentures partnership in the coming year," NXT-ID chief executive Gino Pereira said in a Jan. 8 news release.

WorldVentures has roughly 500,000 DreamTrips members, and adds around 80,000 new members every month.
