Oberthur Technologies will supply contactless cards to the banking subsidiary of France-based retailer Carrefour Group , the card vendor said this week. The dual-interface cards, which also enable consumers to make contact transactions, will go to the financial-services arm of Carrefour, Société des Paiements PASS, also known as S2P. Carrefour previously announced plans to roll out contactless MasterCard payment cards, which would signal one of the largest contactless efforts to date in France (CardLine Global, 22 Jan.). Carrefour wants to issue 2.5 million contactless cards by yearend and deploy contactless readers inside its stores. Neither France-based Oberthur nor Carrefour officials responded to CardLine Global requests for comment. The Carrefour cards come from Oberthur's "Chrysalis Fly" line of EMV-enabled cards.
