OTI Signs 20-Year Parking Payment Contract in Albania

Parx, a subsidiary of On Track Innovations Ltd., has signed a 20-year parking space management contract with Albania's TIS Ltd.

Under the agreement, Parx will help deploy and manage cashless, mobile-enabled parking operations for Elbasan, a city in central Albania, the payments technology provider said in a May 29 release.

Parx operates and distributes various cashless parking solutions, including EasyPark. Its services include general and financial management services, parking fee collection and enforcement, an advanced permit system and customer support. The project is the first of its kind in Albania, Israel-based OTI says.

OTI is investing more time and resources on its payments operations. The company's work in Albania is part of its "continuing strategy of entering long-term public/private partnership contracts for municipal parking management," says Ofer Tziperman, chief executive officer of OTI and Parx, in the release.

The implementation will start at approximately 4,000 managed parking spaces in Elbasan, says Bashkim Shall, general manager for TIS, a provider of business and customer services based in Tirana. The company plans to expand this operation to additional cities in Albania over the next several years.

EasyPark combines an in-vehicle parking meter with OTI EasyPark Mobile solution. EasyPark's  in-vehicle parking meter devices are used in more than 45 cities and have helped collect more than $150 million in parking fees, OTI says.
