P97, SAP Add Mobile Pay for Connected Cars

Mobile commerce provider P97 is partnering with SAP Vehicles Network to include its fuel payment platform with SAP's cloud-based automobile operating system.

Partners such as MasterCard and Fiscal Systems have inked deals to use P97's PetroZone to introduce mobile payments and location-based product offerings for consumers at gas stations and their convenience stores.

International software provider SAP recently introduced its vehicle network platform, and revealed last week that it was working with payment processor FIS to add mobile in-car payments capabilities as part of the platform.

Houston-based P97 is going the same route with SAP, allowing consumers to pay for fuel and receive special offers from the convenience stores when using their mobile phone inside of the car. The platform will also allow merchants to provide rewards or loyalty programs, the company said in a Nov. 3 press release.

“We look forward to bringing our expertise in mobile commerce and site integration for retail fuels to this collaboration with SAP,” Donald Frieden, president and CEO of P97, said in the release.
