Taiyuan Xinbao Parking Meter System Co. Ltd. plans to extend the deployment of contactless smart card technology from Legic Identsystems Ltd. to its parking-meter operations in China, the Germany-based technology provider announced earlier this month.
Under the partnership, both companies will develop parking meter services supported by Legic’s Advant identification technology.
China-based Taiyuan Xinbao already has installed more than 1,000 parking meters supported by the technology and has distributed 130,000 smart cards in Taiyuan as part of a pilot. It now plans to extend the service to more Chinese cities.
Consumers may load the smart card account using cash at select locations or through online-banking services at select banks. The card accesses funds centrally.
Both companies did not respond to PaymentsSource requests for comment.
