PayPal announced on its blog Sept. 14 a partnership with Blizzard to use the payment service in Diablo as well as the online-gaming platform Battle.net.

For Diablo, players can use PayPal to fund an account linked to the game’s auction house. Gamers use the auction house to buy and sell virtual items used in the game, Carey Kolaja, senior director of emerging opportunities at PayPal, wrote on the blog.

Gamers can use PayPal on Battle.net to purchase games from Blizzard.

PayPal noted earlier this year in a study that more than 70% of gamers use its service. Some 40% of social gamers are most likely to use PayPal to pay for virtual items.
