Vienna-based prepaid payment provider paysafecard has updated its mobile app to include augmented reality, a technology that displays data over a view of the physical world.
Augmented reality provides users with a more visual experience than the overhead neighborhood map displayed by most geolocation or GPS functions. Users point their mobile devices in the direction of a store, and are shown a picture to go along with the directions. Paysafecard did not return a request for comment on details of the app by deadline.
Other new features in the paysafecard app include an option to rate sales outlets immediately while shopping, a feature designed to let users know where paysafecard purchases can be made. The company has also added QR code payments and mobile access to the user's online account.
