International payment services provider Planet Payment and South Africa’s Absa Bank are expanding availability of Planet Payment’s Multi-Currency Pricing Solution through a new partnership with Xpressa, a Johannesburg-based company offering online and point of sale payment solutions.
The implementation will enable international customers shopping on South African e-commerce sites to see prices and make payments in their home currencies, the companies said in a July 26 press release.
Xpressa, founded in 2003, already supports merchant payments through Absa Bank. Merchants supporting the service through Xpressa will receive funds in South African Rand.
The ability to display prices for goods sold online in international customers’ home currencies is a first for South Africa, Xpress said in the release.
