Sharp Electronics Corp. has certified Precidia Technologies Inc.'s TransNet payment application for use on Sharp's electronic cash registers, Precidia announced today. When a cashier or consumer swipes a payment card at a Sharp register, TransNet manages the transaction using a high-speed Internet connection. Precidia says TransNet works with credit, debit, gift and loyalty cards, and it complies with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Ottawa, Ontario-based Precidia says some independent sales organizations are reselling Sharp cash registers with the TransNet application, and they have set up their own revenue-sharing agreements with resellers. Precidia says 10 Sharp cash registers are compatible with TransNet.
