Q2 Profit Slips As Revenue Climbs For Global Payments

Merchant processor Global Payments Inc. on Jan. 6 reported net income of $53.5 million for its fiscal second quarter ended Nov. 30, down 14.8% from $62.8 million during the same period last year. Revenues, however, increased by 8.4%, to $443.5 million from $409 million.

The Atlanta-based company did not offer an explanation for the profit decline in its press release announcing its earnings.

“Our performance demonstrates continued execution of our growth strategies in all of our regions,” Paul R. Garcia, Global Payments chairman and CEO, stated in the release. “In aggregate, the businesses performed as we expected during the quarter, with especially strong performance in Asia.”
