Motorists in the Netherlands will soon be able to pay for fuel purchases before pulling into the gas station through a feature from the Dutch bank Rabobank’s MyOrder, which already supports a variety of mobile payments use cases.
To pay ahead of time, MyOrder subscribers first open the app to choose one of 220 Tamoil service stations for refueling, and select the amount of money they want to spend on gas. When the motorist arrives at the station, fuel pump sensors recognize the pre-authorized transaction and shut off after dispensing the amount of fuel paid for.
MyOrder made the connection to Tamoil’s fuel pumps through a deal with Paris-based Tokheim Group S.A.S., a global provider of fuel dispensers and payment systems.
