Prepaid card managers should consider future program growth when choosing processors, notes a Javelin Strategy & Research study report "Prepaid Product Evolution: Align Processor Relationship With Strategic Goals." As prepaid card programs gain traction with consumers, "the ability to scale transaction volume and increase the breadth of the prepaid card offering" is one of the three things a card manager must consider, says Bruce Cundiff, report author and Javelin director of payments research and consulting. Processors also must keep managers "headache free" in terms of security and compliance, he says. "The ability to understand the trends in the prepaid market and having proactive vision" is also a priority when choosing a processor, says Cundiff.
