St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Revolution Money Inc. this week launched a holiday promotion that runs through Jan. 31 that credits consumers up to $100 for paying with a RevolutionCard, the company says. Revolution Money will credit $5 to cardholders' accounts for each purchase of $50 or more they make using a RevolutionCard. Consumers can receive a maximum of 20 $5 credits during the promotion. Revolution Money charges merchants that accept RevolutionCard 0.5% of each sale in processing fees, which can save merchants up to 80% in transaction fees compared with bankcard acceptance, the company claims. Revolution Money has launched multiple programs to boost card use and growth. "We continue to create consumer programs with merchants that incent them to use the card," Duncan Evans, executive vice president and general manager of the RevolutionCard Network at Revolution Money, tells CardLine. "We continue to make progress on cardholder growth." Revolution Money intends to launch additional programs in 2009, he says. More than 300,000 retail locations accept the card, according to a company spokesperson. Revolution Money does not disclose how many consumers hold RevolutionCards, the spokesperson says. Revolution Money in October announced that Murphy Oil USA Inc. will give consumers a 3-cent discount per gallon of gasoline when they pay with a RevolutionCard (CardLine, 10/8).
