It marks the first time in France that PCS card users will be able to make mobile payments through Samsung Pay. Mastercard's digital enablement services will provide the tokenization security for the cards.

"This partnership with PFS is perfectly in line with our desire to offer Samsung Pay users more flexibility and possibilities," Laurent Moquet, director of marketing with Samsung Electronics France, said in a Wednesday press release. "The availability of PCS Mastercard prepaid cards on Samsung Pay enriches our service and positions it as the most complete mobile payment solution on the market.”

The Samsung Pay-PCS payment method is available and reloadable online at 32,000 stores across France, making it easier for users to make payments while traveling without transmitting bank details.

With Samsung Pay, PCS cardholders will receive notifications of their purchases immediately. The service security operates through biometric identification, or a PIN, and data encryption through Samsung Knox.

PFS estimates that more than a half million prepaid cardholders could potentially benefit from the Samsung Pay option.
