Seamless Deal Saturates U.K. Bank Coverage

Seamless' U.K. expansion strategy has gotten a big boost through a collaboration with the U.K.-based GoCardless digital payment network, enabling a bank-agnostic link to the SEQR mobile payment system.

Through this agreement, Seamless' users can access GoCardless' links to BACS, a bank-operated national account to account transfer system. More than 20,000 consumers use GoCardless to process about $2 billion in transactions annually.

SEQR's consumers will be able to pay at about 500,000 terminals in the U.K. that accept contactless payments. These users will access the network by connecting tier bank account to GoCardless' platform.

Based in Stockholm, Seamless' SEQR app allows consumers to scan or tap a QR code or use Near Field Communication to pay, and secures the purchase via a PIN. It's available in most of Europe and the U.S. Seamless has also collaborated with Incomm to enable prepaid services and recently extended its ability to serve the hospitality industry.
