United Overseas Bank Ltd. by September plans to introduce in Indonesia a credit card designed specifically for women, a spokesperson for the Singapore-based bank tells PaymentsSource
United Overseas earlier rolled out the MasterCard-branded product, called the Lady’s card, in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, where it has issued a combined 500,000 cards. The bank expects to add another 500,000 cardholders from Indonesia and the other three countries by 2014, the issuer noted in a statement.
Recently, the bank began offering an application for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and Google Inc.’s Android smartphones called the Lady’s Soulmate as part of an effort to revamp the card (see story). http://www.paymentssource.com/news/singapore-uob-bank-add-mobile-app-women-3001806-1.html
The smart-phone application informs cardholders about relevant shopping and dining offers within 1.2 miles of their location and about discounts on certain insurance and investment plans and extensions on housing-loan tenures.
The app also incorporates a cab-call feature that gives cardholders priority in securing taxis, an online shopping portal, travel services and a dedicated member hotline.
The spokesperson could not confirm whether the service will be available in Indonesia.
United Overseas launched the card in Singapore in 1987, and it comes in regular, solitaire and platinum versions.
