The latest iOS update will soon enable many consumers to initiate payments via voice command, but a German bank is one of the first to take its service live.
A Berlin-based startup, N26, has rolled out an enhancement to its person-to-person payments service harnessing improvements to Apple’s Siri virtual assistant, enabling hands-free payments for users on the go, the bank said in a press release.
Users also may request funds via Siri voice command; to do so, users must type the desired amount within N26’s mobile app.
“Our customers can transfer money by simply saying a single sentence,” said Valentin Stalf, N26’s founder and CEO, in the release. “It doesn’t get any easier than that!”
N26 sets a limit of 25 euros (US$28) per transaction and up to 100 euros (US$100) per day, which is the standard local ceiling on Near Field Communication-based P-to-P payments, according to N26.
The bank, which launched in 2014 with a mobile-first focus, operates in Germany, Austria, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Slovakia and Spain.
Square recently announced plans to enable users to send funds via Square Cash using Siri, and PayPal’s Venmo also is working to add the feature via Siri and text messaging. Facebook also is
