Online payments processor Skrill Group has appointed former Weve CEO David Sear as Group Chief Commercial Officer.
Sear will oversee all commercial operations across the company's divisions, which consist of Skrill, paysafecard and payolution.
Prior to joining Skrill Group, Sear was chief executive of Weve, a mobile payments joint venture between UK mobile network operators, EE, Telefonica UK (O2) and Vodafone UK that recently added tech features such as
Sear will join Skrill Group in August at the companys global headquarters in London.
Current changes in the payments industry create an opportunity for payment providers to evolve and innovate, said Siegfried Heimgaertner, chief executive officer of Skrill Group in a July 9 press release. Sear will help the company to continue "to provide intelligent online payment solutions for businesses and individuals" in the highly competitive mobile payments market, Heimgaertner says.
