Merchants using cash-advance services typically represent a small percentage of an independent sales organization's overall client portfolio, suggest the results of a recent survey by CardLine sister publication ISO&Agent magazine. Merchants can get advances on their credit card receivables in exchange for giving the cash-advance company a share of future receivables. Forty-two percent of the 57 ISO survey respondents report that between 1% and 10% of their merchants used cash-advance services. Nine percent of the respondents say between 11% and 20% of their merchant customers use them. Only one ISO said between 41% and 50% of its merchants use the service. In a separate question, 56% of ISOs said they offered cash-advance services.
