Smart Card Specification Group Names Leadership Team

GlobalPlatform, the international smart card specifications group, on Monday announced that Sébastien Tormos, director of marketing at United States-based Datacard Group, will keep his position as chairman of the organization for the fiscal 2010, which runs through Sept 30. Tormos will serve a second term in that job, GlobalPlatform says in a statement. Additionally, Marc Kekicheff, senior business leader at Visa Inc., will serve as the group's vice chairman. GlobalPlatform encourages interoperable smart card systems and offers free downloads of its card specifications from its Web site. Banks, transit agencies, governments and mobile operators have issued more than 305 million GlobalPlatform-based smart cards.
